This project is a key part of the project to upgrade the Rijeka refinery, which includes the construction an oil production and processing plant, a port, a warehouse, and a transport system for coke at the refinery, explained the Minister of Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure, Oleg Butkovic.
"The concession will be granted for a period of 40 years, as of the day of signing a contract, and is estimated at HRK 800 million," Butkovic emphasised, noting that the concession encompasses a maritime belt with a total area of 124,500 square metres.
In December last year, the oil company INA announced that a final investment decision had been reached on a plant for the processing of heavy residue at the refinery in Rijeka. This investment in the modernisation of the refinery amounts to a total of around HRK 4 billion, and the new plant is expected to start working in 2023.
