"I am firmly convinced that with my dedicated work I will prove that the State Prosecutor's Office is an independent institution that citizens can trust," Hrvoj Sipek said signing the oath during the swearing-in ceremony in Parliament House.
Expressing her thanks for being appointed, she underscored a feeling of responsibility and pride because she is the first woman to be appointed chief state prosecutor.
I will invest all my energy, knowledge and experience to run the State Prosecutor's Office in the spirit of the oath taken, on the path of the rule of law towards highly-set objectives, efficiently prosecuting crimes, particularly those related to corruption, protecting the property and the property interests of the Republic of Croatia," said Hrvoj Sipek.
She added that in order to achieve those objectives, changes were necessary -by intensifying the use of new technology and changing the way things are done, which will stimulate and encourage state prosecutors. She underscored that she would see to it that all officials and employees adhere to the spirit of ethical and deontological principles.

Parliament Speaker Jandrokovic said that he was surprised by comments related to the selection of the new chief state prosecutor and said that they were not objective or justified, such as the comment by President Zoran Milanovic that this was not the way to be selected and that Hrvoj Sipek only selected because she was Andrej Plenkovic's choice.
The former chief state prosecutor was not replaced for political reasons but for reasons that are well known and which were of a private nature, said Jandrokovic.
The new chief state prosecutor was selected in a legal procedure, for the first time through a public call for applications, after which the government's selection committee decided on the best candidate, and then that was discussed by the government, the relevant parliamentary committee and parliament at a plenary session, and the entire procedure was concluded today with the swearing-in ceremony, said Jandrokovic.
