Skoro writes on his Facebook account that he finds it absurd that the chant could be brought into question, particularly "when we can see that Yugoslav and also Communist symbols are being freely put on display, which is in contravention with Council of Europe Resolution 1481, and when there are cases of graveyards being decorated with monuments to (extreme Serb nationalist) Chetnik leaders."
We must never forget to whom the credit goes for our freedom, and also who is liable for our suffering and which insignia they used, Skoro said.
On Wednesday, the Zagreb-based High Magistrates Court ruled that the chant "For the Homeland Ready" at the start of the song "Bojna Cavoglave" does not amount to an offence. The decision was deliberated on by 20 judges from all four sections of that court, and 15 of them rejected the interpretation that the chant could be seen as an act of violating public order and peace, one judge abstained, and four voted for the interpretation that it amounted to an offence.
The song "Bojna Cavoglave" was recorded by Marko Perkovic Thompson at the onset of the Homeland War 1991. The song was premiered on Croatian Radio Split on 31 December 1991.
