Around 500 households in Roma settlements across Croatia will be connected to the power supply network as part of the government's operational programme for the Roma minority, Vecernji List daily said on Friday.

This was stated after the signing of agreements for the financing of a project to connect households in Roma settlements to the power grid. The agreements were signed by Environment and Energy Minister Tomislav Coric and HEP - Distribution System Operator director Nikola Sulentic.

In attendance was also Roma minority MP Veljko Kajtazi.

In the first stage of the project, 200 Roma households across the country will be connected to the power supply network, for which the Environment and Energy Ministry has secured HRK 2 million (€265,000).
